NFL Player Picks Up Hitchhiker

Many of us rush by people stopped on the side of the road with a broken-down car because we’re often late getting somewhere. But Oakland Raiders’ Derek Carr took one for the team when he helped out Ron Reeser who’d run out of gas.
The impression that he left with Ron will last a lot longer than their trip to the gas station. Derek didn’t tell Ron who he was when he picked him up. Instead, he wanted to know more about Ron’s life. When Ron finally figured out who Derek was, Derek told him that he dreamed of being a pastor after retiring from football. Before they parted ways they prayed together.

 

 

Derek’s actions bring forth the positivity that can be found in living like Jesus. Sure, football or religion may not be for you, but hopefully we can all agree that being humble and willing to stick our necks out for others are important no matter what. Those are the things that connect us.
