Chris and Courtney Rhodes have one goal with their clothing line FLAVNT (pronounced ‘flaunt’): to promote confidence in the LGBTQ community. They are doing this one styling piece of clothing at a time.
The Bareskin Binder is the newest brainchild for these Austin-based identical twins. It’s a swimwear line dedicated to making female-to-male trans folks feel confident when catching some sunshine. The top piece is skin-colored to give the look of a bare chest, yet supportive so the wearer feels comfortable. They have a binder for every skin color and body size.
Their color options are “not just one beige color, but an inclusive range from light to dark,” FLAVNT told Bustle.
“If I had a brand I could’ve worn when I was 14 and confused about my gender and felt more comfortable, I think it would’ve made coming out a little bit easier,” Chris told Flurt Magazine. “And [it would have helped me] if I had seen a business with queer models – people of all types and people supporting each other.”
We think it’s pretty rad how this dynamic duo bridges their business enterprise with grassroots social impact. They host fundraising partnerships with people in the LGBTQ community and publish a blog chatting about all things queer and fun. Not only this, but they donate 15 percent of their sales to surgery funds.
