We all know a new president is about to take the reigns. If it feels a bit like doomsday we get it, but plenty of badass Americans are keeping their head in the game to give us information and hold our leaders accountable. One of them is filmmaker Theo Rigby—certified ally of the people.
Rigby and his team are spearheading a series of short documentaries that follow several undocumented young adults as they will soon navigate the effects of our new president. It’s called ‘Waking Dream’ and its subjects all rely on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) to go to school and work—members of communities that are working, learning and paying income tax, the whole deal.
Thing is, Trump plans on nixing DACA even though it’s likely to cost the U.S. more than $400 billion in economic growth over the next decade. The first episode of Waking Dream will profile 3 DACAmented young people across the country before the inauguration on January 20th.
Here’s the ask––Theo and his team need help to make sure this project happens. They’ve set up a Kickstarter to raise some cash for the film. If you can, join us in supporting Theo’s effort to show America what’s really up with DACA.
