Lingerie Company Empowering Women, Not Shaming Them

Livi Rae Lingerie is a woman-owned company that loves every body type. If you’re recovering from a mastectomy, or rockin’ a prosthetic limb, or have other varied abilities –– there’s something there for you.

“When you come in here, it’s a judgment-free zone,” said Cynthia.

That was the essence of their most recent campaign that showed women of all types – Black, in a wheelchair, plus-sized – flaunting Livi Rae swag. But when they put up the images in their storefront windows in Kennesaw, Georgia, the property manager claimed the ads were ‘in bad taste’ and had to be removed. The owners of Livi, Molly Hopkins and Cynthia Decker, knew this was unfair and said heck no, taking to social media with the hashtag #NoShameLiviRae, encouraging others to speak out against this.

America knew the ads were of impeccable taste and said as much, piping up from all over in support of Livi Rae.

“This is EXACTLY why I choose to buy from you! These ads encourage and empower us to think beautiful thoughts about our own shapes and the possibilities we can have,” said one woman.

Guess what? The property owners finally agreed to let the ads stay up. A win for diversity and the power of collective action.

Thank you, Livi Rae, for showing us that ethics are sexy, and kudos to social media for not letting anyone fall through the cracks. Daily action DOES make a difference.
