Not Your Mama’s Stitch-N-Bitch

Do you know about the Pussyhat Project? Stay a minute and we’ll tell you. Your ears will probably want their own pink hat after they hear about it.

January 21st is slated to be the Women’s March in Washington DC. The mission? To stand together, recognizing that defending the most marginalized among us is defending all of us.

January is also a cold month and hats are practical. Pink is feminine. The Pussyhat Project takes all these truths and knits them into one cool goal: turning the streets into a sea of pink.

Krista Suh and Jayna Zweiman, co-founders of the effort, are down with reclaiming femininity and domesticity. Pink will make the march even more powerful and united. Mark your calendars.

You may be wearing a hat made by someone born in 1917 and who was probably taught to knit by someone born in the 1800s. /// I showed this photo to my 85 year old grandmother who found Rose so inspiring, “Wow she looks 70,” and “She has great teeth!” says my grandma. /// And as for the toddler, my grandma LOVES this darling! She’s currently inspired and making some child size pussyhats.

1) Join in at a sister march in your area.

2) If you can’t make it, knit a pink hat and give it to a friend who’ll be marching. What better excuse to host a rainy Stitch-N-Bitch?
