Fox News told the story of Juan Carlos, a father of three, and the effort of the West Frankfort, Illinois, a community he’s served for over a decade.
If you ask residents of the coal-mining town whether they support Trump’s controversial crackdown on undocumented immigrants, they’d all cheer. But the conservative community members did all they could to help the Mexican immigrant who has served as manager of La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant for years.
West Frankfort’s county prosecutor, police chief, mayor and even high school athletic director all sent letters of support for Juan Carlos, a man they praised for funding school scholarships and providing for families in need.
“I’m very proud of my hometown,” Juan Carlos’s buddy Tim Grigsby told CNN after U.S. ICE officials released him earlier this month.
Juan Carlos’s fate – along with hundreds of thousands of our undocumented neighbors, volunteers, caregivers and families – is at risk. West Frankfort residents stood tall on American values, and stood for Juan Carlos.
